1. Our role — and its limits

Friend Indeed is a closed-circle notification utility. We work hard to keep the community safe, but you should understand the limits of what we can do:

We do not move money and we do not verify requests. Money is sent directly between contacts, outside the App, using their own payment methods. We have no visibility into those transfers and cannot reverse, recover, refund or guarantee any money. We do not independently verify the truth of a help request, a person's identity beyond their phone number, or how any gift is used. Treat every request with the same care you would offline, and confirm who you are helping before sending anything.

2. What verification we do (and don't)

  • Phone verification. Every account is tied to a telephone number verified by a one-time code. This reduces, but does not eliminate, fake or duplicate accounts.
  • Mutual-contacts model. Requests reach only people who have each other saved as contacts, which naturally limits stranger-to-stranger scams. It does not guarantee that a known contact's request is genuine.
  • No identity or needs vetting. We do not perform government-ID checks, credit checks, or investigations of need. Requests are unverified unless we expressly say otherwise.

3. How to protect yourself from fraud

  • Confirm the request is really from your contact — call or message them directly, especially if the story or amount seems off or urgent.
  • Be wary of pressure, secrecy, or requests to send money to a different person or unfamiliar account.
  • Check the receiving account details independently before sending.
  • Remember that gifts sent outside the App are usually irreversible — never send more than you are willing to give freely.
  • Never share one-time codes, passwords, or banking credentials with anyone.

4. Reporting a problem

Please tell us about anything unsafe, fraudulent, abusive, or against our Community Guidelines:

  • In-app report on any request or user (a request card's three-dot menu → Report this request → choose a reason → Submit).
  • Block a contact to cut off contact and visibility.
  • Email support@friendindeed.app (general concerns or suspected fraud); for suspected child sexual abuse, report immediately.

We aim to acknowledge and review reports within 24 hours. Reports are treated confidentially.

5. How we investigate and enforce

When we receive a report or detect a problem, we may:

  • review the request, account and related activity;
  • remove or restrict the request or content;
  • warn, suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate the account;
  • block the associated device or identifiers to prevent re-registration;
  • apply our repeat-offender policy — permanent bans for those who reoffend; and
  • preserve relevant data for investigation and legal purposes.

We exercise discretion proportionate to the risk and may act immediately in serious cases. Where appropriate we provide notice and an appeal route (support@friendindeed.app).

6. Anti-money-laundering, sanctions & law-enforcement cooperation

Although we never handle money, we prohibit using Friend Indeed for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or sanctions evasion, and we may report suspected unlawful activity to, and cooperate with, competent authorities. In Nigeria this includes the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU); elsewhere, the equivalent authorities. We will preserve and disclose data where we believe in good faith it is required by law or necessary to prevent harm, consistent with our Privacy Policy.

7. If you've been defrauded

Report it to us so we can act on the account, and report it to your local police or financial-crime authority and to your bank or payment provider (who may be able to help with the transfer itself). We cannot recover or reverse funds, but we will support lawful investigations.

8. Contact
